I know what it’s like to feel stuck as a creative. Like so many, I learned from a young age to prioritize ‘practicality’ above self-expression. While this landed me a fancy Wall Street job straight out of college, it left me weeping on the subway to work. And that little voice inside of me knew why: I had resisted my creativity for way too long. So with absolutely no plan, I quit Wall Street and committed to following my artistic compass, which led me to public radio and then to running a digital publication for a non-profit. Before long, the side-projects I’d cultivated in writing and social media enabled me to leave the 9-5 grind behind for good. After years of fighting for my creative dreams, I could finally put them first. Since then, I’ve built a six-figure freelance business around my creativity, establishing a career spanning music, modeling, writing, social media, and more.
On “I See What You Mean,” join me every other Tuesday for candid, witty, and inspiring conversations on creativity, personal growth, and finding meaning. I ask creatives in a variety of fields to share their stories—how they beat creative blocks, why it matters, and what’s on the other side..
